Hainanese Chicken Rice

Hainanese Chicken Rice is one of the most beloved dishes of Singapore. It is essentially boiled chicken served at room temperature with a dash of sesame oil and light soy sauce. The chicken broth is used to cook the rice, along with blended ginger, garlic and a dash of salt. What makes this dish are the 3 sauces that accompany it - the chili sauce (made from chillies, garlic and a dash of lime juice), sweet soya sauce, and a garlic/ginger sauce. Each spoonful of rice and chicken has to be customised with a dash of each of the three sauces. Slices of cucumber clean the palate after each spoonful. The flavors just burst in your mouth. A delicious blend of savory and sweet, tangy and full makes a satisfying meal that is not difficult to love. It is not difficult to see why this is one of Singapore's most iconic dishes.
